Nagpur: India defeated Australia by seven wickets in the fifth and final match of the series here on Sunday. With this, India captured the series 4-1 and also became number one in the ODI rankings.
Australia had set a target of 243 runs in front of India, with the hosts winning three wickets in 42.5 overs on Rohit Sharma (125), Ajinkya Rahane (61) and captain Virat Kohli (39).
Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. The team could not take advantage of the good start once again and the Indian bowlers did the best and restricted them to 242 runs in nine overs in the stipulated 50 overs.
David Warner is the highest scorer on behalf of the team. He made 53 runs with the help of five fours in 62 balls. Travis Head made 42 and Marcus Stonis scored 46 runs.
For India, Akshar Patel took three wickets. Apart from Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah took two wickets. Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, and Bhubaneswar Kumar got one wicket.
