Indore: On December 25, 1997, the whole world was celebrating Christmas, but there was a disappointment in Indori’s eyes and On the same, there was International One Day match between India and SriLanka.

The Indian captain was Sachin Tendulkar, then Sri Lanka’s command was in the hands of Arjuna Ranatunga. The match started with the Sri Lankan batting and after three o’clock, the excitement team denied playing the pitch of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The umpires later cancelled the match.

After the match referee’s report, the ICC banned Indore. After some years of the incident, the ban was lifted from Indore, but Sri Lanka never came back. Right now, just after 20 years later in the month of December, Sri Lanka is returning to our city just before Christmas.

This will also be a new era of Indore as the first T20 match for the first time in the city, which will be the first captain in the city, is going to be held on December 22. At 2.30 pm, both teams will come to Indore by special aircraft. There is no practice session on Thursday as per the information received from the BCCI. Although some players may come for practice.

… even then the umpire was from Indore, and Now too

It is an interesting coincidence that when Sri Lanka played a one-day match in Indore 20 years ago, Sudhir Asnani was the third umpire of the match. This time also, the third umpire will be present as Nitin Menon (Indore).
