Gopalakrishna Gandhi will be the candidate for the post of vice-president. This decision was taken after the meeting of the opposition coalition of 18 parties. After the meeting, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that all the 18 parties agreed on the name of Gopalkrishna Gandhi in a voice.
Sonia Gandhi said that after becoming the Vice Presidential candidate, she has talked with Gopalakrishna Gandhi and she has given her consent.
Gopalkrishna Gandhi is the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. Bureaucrat Gandhi has been the Governor of West Bengal from 2004 to 2009. Gopalakrishna Gandhi was also the President of the President.

In the meeting of the opposition, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, party Vice President Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, SP, BSP, National Conference and leaders of other parties were present.
