Seventeen people killed in a bus accident in Uttar Pradesh. Near about seventeen people killed and around twenty injured in a Uttar Pradesh when a bus overturned after hitting a divider in this morning.

The bus was carrying around seventy people on its way to Farrukhabad from Jaipur in Rajasthan. The report was given by Additional Superintendent of Police named Om Prakash Singh of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh.

He further said, “The bus overturned after hitting a divider in Tirathpur village which is located twenty-five kilometres from the district headquarters on the Mainpuri-Etawah road, Uttar Pradesh at around 5.30 am”

As per the current investigation, around seventeen people have been killed whereas twenty others sustained injuries. The driver who was driving the bus has lost his left leg and is immediately taken to the nearby hospital for medical aid.

The investigation is still going on to identify the victims which include one woman and sixteen men. However, the injured people were immediately taken to the hospitals in Mainpuri and Saifai of Uttar Pradesh. Whereas the patients who were admitted in Saifai hospital, have been referred to Agra.

The police officer further said that the bus was carrying mostly labourers, who generally work in a brick factory and were returning to their native hometowns. Most of them were daily wagers who were working in Jaipur and were heading home for the Eid festival.

The bus was packed beyond capacity and some passengers were sitting on its roof. The reports say that the driver lost control of the bus and the vehicle eventually turned turtle after hitting the road divider. Those who were injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment.

When the district administration official of Uttar Pradesh heard about the incident, they rushed to the accident spot. Reports say that cranes have been pressed into service to clear the road.

The police officials further said that the number plate of the particular bus is revealed. The bus was registered in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh-76. The bus was going from Jaipur to Farrukhabad and investigations are still going on.

However, the police official further said that a number of casualties include those persons who were sleeping on the top of the bus to escape from the prevailing heat.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has announced an amount of Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased person and Rs 50,000 to those who are seriously injured in the accident.
