Srinagar: Terrorists attacked the police premises in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today, after which there was a fierce encounter between militants and security forces. Three terrorists were killed in this while eight security personnel, including four CRPF jawans, were martyred. The police, the CRPF, and the Army personnel immediately took action and brought the families of the policemen staying there so that the situation of hostage could not be created. Although two special police officers are still missing.
Officials said that the security personnel killed one of the three militants till noon while another dead body could be recovered after five o’clock in the evening. He said that soon the third body will be recovered. Lt Gen JS Sandhu, General Officer Commanding GOC, Chinar Corps located in Srinagar said here today, “In the morning, the terrorists entered the family quarter after entering the district police line of Pulwama Pulwama. There are many families living there. Sandhu said that this is a fidayeen attack. He said that the immediate identification of the terrorist was not recognized.
Of the killed soldiers, four are from CRPF, a soldier belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and special police officers working with three state police. Two of the CRPF jawans were martyred at the end of two campaigns when they were disabling the explosive devices imposed by militants. DGP SP Vaidya said that it was a bad day for the security forces who had to suffer heavy losses. He said, however, the soldiers bravely faced them and we are committed to ending terrorism from the entire state.
