Srinagar: Students of Anantnag Degree College in South Kashmir today demonstrated violent protests in protest of the organizing of a sports festival, setting fire to the platform set by the police.
For the students of the canal-based degree college, the police had organized this festival this morning. A police official said that a group of students started sloganeering in protest against organizing the program and started pelting stones.
Students protested against hoisting the national flag in the college campus. According to the report, when the Tigers were hoisted in the college premises, a large number of students started slogans. Police said that the students handed over hoardings, tents and other things to the fire.
They said that the police personnel followed the miscreants, but more students joined in this violent demonstration and they set fire to tents made of platforms and college premises. He told that no one was injured in the incident so far.
