Panchkula (Haryana): After the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on sexual assault on Friday by a special court located in Panchkula of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), his angry fans attacked the media vehicles and journalists. Outside the court premises, attacked the Outdoor Broadcasting (OB) van of three to four television channels by the supporters of the Dera chief. Some OB vans were set on fire After the court verdict, 15 incidents of violence took place in 45 minutes in Punjab and Haryana.
Witnesses said some journalists were also injured in the attack. Many photo reporters and TV cameraman were destroyed by Dera supporters. Most of the attacks took place in Panchkula’s Sector 3, 4 and 5, which are near the court premises. Police and paramilitary forces are unable to take action on the rush crowd soon. After pelting stones by the supporters of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Assugas shells were erected at one place. The troops were soon deployed and they took control of the court complex. Dera head has been taken into custody by security forces.
