Agriculture is a far more dynamic sector than perceived earlier. Titles and job profiles in agriculture are as composite and diverse as those in the corporate sector. These profiles include Food Science & Engineering, Soils, Economics and also direct farming. The opportunities are endless and possibilities abound.

Andhra Pradesh has a number of good agricultural colleges. Institutes like Dr. YSR Horticultural University and Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) are in the top 30 agricultural universities ranked by ICAR. In order to pursue agricultural studies in the institutes of Andhra Pradesh, you must appear for AP EAMCET.

AP EAMCET is a state level exam conducted by APSCHE. It is held in the last week of April. You must have passed (or are appearing) for the final examination of Class 12 to fulfill the basic eligibility criteria. This exam opens the doors of several agricultural varsities in the state. Aspirants who qualify the exam will be shortlisted for AP EAMCET counselling process and will move a step closer to their desired college.

Andhra Pradesh as your venue for Agricultural Studies

The state has been gaining popularity among many agriculture enthusiasts. It has registered the highest GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) rate in agriculture and horticulture sector as per state government data. It has increased due to the presence of several good agricultural universities and research facilities. A total of 150 graduate seats are offered in horticulture institutes while there are about 695 seats for aspirants who wish to pursue B.Sc. Agriculture.

These institutes are equipped with research stations, extension education units, communication centers and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. They offer UG and PG courses in Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Food Science & Technology and many other streams. Some colleges even provide distance education programs for agricultural studies.

AP EAMCET as an entrance for Agriculture Studies

AP EAMCET is conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). It is a combined entrance exam for admitting aspirants into various engineering, agriculture and pharmacy colleges. More than 2 lakh students appear for the exam every year.
