At a time when an economic slowdown and dwindling jobs have become the topic of concerns, there was an increase in the number of recruiters visiting the campus of BITS Pilani this year. According to VS Rao, Director, a centralized placement model, as compared to the decentralized model in the previous years, had led to an overall increase in campus placements
“The recruiter participation was 41 percent higher than the previous year i.e. 2016,” Balasubramanian Gurumurthy, Chief Placements Officer. In addition to big names such as TCS, Cognizant, Ultratech, JP Morgan IB, EA Games, Texas Instruments, Oracle, Cisco Systems, Capital IQ, CEAT and Walmart, some start-up companies also hired students.
Japanese firms ‘Works Application’ and ‘Daikin’ made the highest offers to graduating students of BITS Pilani i.e. INR 60 Lacs pa and INR 59.5 Lacs pa respectively. The institute, which started its placement season in August, completed the placements for the graduating class of 2017 recently.
BITS Campuses Average Salary Package: Minimum and Maximum
BITS managed to better the number of students placed across all three campuses in a year when most companies are cutting back on hiring and placements have been hit even across premier institutes. The university’s three campuses—BITS Pilani, BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad saw a total of 646 recruiters, that is, 38 more than the last year. Out of which, some of the recruiters made more than 30 offers each.
BITS Pilani campus saw a top salary of INR 35 lacs and an average salary of INR 11.47 lacs while the Goa campus had a top salary of INR 29.5 lacs and an average of INR 10.95 Lacs. At the Hyderabad campus, the highest and average salaries were INR 35 lakh and INR 10.51 lacs, respectively.

BITS Pilani has declared the final placements for the recent batch, with an average salary of INR 11.07 lacs against INR 10.33 lacs last year. 86 percent of the overall batch got placed this year while around 83 percent got placed the year before.
The institute’s authority said they were in accordance with the recruitment trends by keeping the overall hiring environment in mind. They had advanced its placement season by a week across semesters to gain an advantage.
BITS Pilani 2017 Packages Offered
The highest on-campus international package of INR 60 lacs was offered by one of the Japan’s largest enterprise software companies- Tokyo-based Works Application. Offers by other companies are also examined in the picture below:

In the year 2015, 150 students were placed only within two days, with a highest domestic offer of INR 23.5 lacs per annum. The other information regarding the percentage of students in the different salary range is given in the pie-chart. Certainly, impressive that over 30% of students got packages over 10 lacs.
