New Delhi: After the launch of Reliance Jio’s 4G feature phones, many mobile companies are planning to launch the cheap 4G feature phones by the end of this year, in the market turmoil. Neeraj Sharma, national head of Spreadtrum Communications a company that created 4G chipset, said, “We are in talks with 4-5 companies who are working on plans to present phones (on the spreadsheet chipset). We hope that it will launch its phone in the fourth quarter of 2017. “The company is supplying chipsets for Reliance’s 4G feature phone.
Domestic company Lava has already rolled out the 4G feature phones based on the spreadsheet chipset. Another company plans to launch the MediaTek chipset based on the 4G feature phone at the end of this month, which will cost Rs 1,999.
It is notable that Mukesh Ambani launched the much-awaited Jio Feature Phone in the annual meeting of Reliance Jio on July 27. He said that using the Jio Phone would be very easy and it would be the world’s most affordable phone.
