Amitabh Bachchan graced the second edition of the “26 11 Stories of Strength” here in Mumbai. During his media interaction thespian, Amitabh expressed that terrorism is nothing more than the randomness of evil.
“Whatever political rhetoric may say terrorism is neither the form of justice nor even an instrument of justice. It is the whimsical randomness of evil” said Amitabh Bachchan during his opening monologue.
To remember the victims and the innocent lives lost, The Indian Express in partnership with Facebook organized the second edition of the Stories of Strength event. It hosted survivors and children of the victims of the attack.
The event was directed by Feroz Abbas Khan. Among the speakers at the event were Amitabh Bachchan, Prasoon Joshi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command Vice-Admiral Girish Luthra and Divya Salaskar, daughter of slain encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar.
Further adding, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Cowardly attacks which took place on this day, nine years ago, that occurred at various places across our city including the landmark (Taj Hotel) just across the street. Nine years ago these attacks were to me a wake-up call, but the question I ask myself was wake up, yes but wake up to what? I woke up to a new era of violence, the violence that was inflicted by terrorism”
“I woke up to the fact that terrorism is not ideology, it is an act of scaring peaceful people, an act of evoking fear of sudden untimely death, negotiating at a point of a gun, terrorism is not an act of faith and cannot replace any ideology.”
Amitabh Bachchan also added that we need not talk badly about our foe; we need to understand ourselves and our foe to defeat him.
“As moderates, we must understand recognize that vilify of the foe is no victory at all; to understand a foe, is the first act of strength in resistance. And in order to understand a foe, first, we must understand ourselves. And to understand ourselves, we must ask not what we are against rather we must ask what we are for” added Amitabh.
Next Amitabh Bachchan will be seen sharing screen space with Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in Thugs Of Hindostan.
